SPECIAL RULES
1. All entries in this department are subject to the Division Rules and General Rules and Regulations.
2. Prepared mixes such as cake, pudding, pie filling, pie crust, etc., cannot be used, even as an ingredient, except in Cakes, Sub-Class 12.
3. A complete recipe typed or printed on a 4” x 6” card with name, address and phone number of exhibitor on the back of the card, must accompany each entry. The recipe becomes the property of West Texas Fair.
4. Each person may enter one entry in each sub-class number.
5. Professionals are barred.
6. Exhibitors please enter the Fairgrounds through Gate H. Entries will be received in the Modern Living Mall, west door.
7. All food entries will be received on the appropriate days from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Modern Living Mall.
8. Judging will begin at 11:30 AM and the decision of the judges is final.
9. Rosettes for Best of Show will be awarded in each class: Breads, Cakes, Candy, Cookies and Pies.
10. First through sixth place winners will be displayed as slice, wedge or piece.
11. All entries, with the exception of cookies, will be returned to the entrant between 3 pm and 5 pm on the day of judging.Cookies will not be returned.
12. Judging criteria will be:
A. Flavor
B. Texture – light, tender, even grain that is characteristic of product.
C. Appearance - attractive and uniform in shape and appearance.
D. Difficulty in preparation.
E. Frosting – smooth, not grainy in texture and pleasing

NO PREPARED MIXES MAY BE USED EVEN AS AN INGREDIENT, except Sub-Class 12. Please have cakes in disposable pans and covered with plastic wrap or disposable cake covers. Please do not cut or slice.No professionals may enter.All decorations must be edible and homemade.

3. Pound Cake, unfrosted, unglazed
4. Pound Cake-frosted or glazed
5. Any cake containing fruit in the batter (example:
Fruit Cocktail, Dates, Plums, Pears, Etc.)
6. Any cake containing nuts in the batter
7. Spiced Cake
8. Italian Cream Cake
9. Coconut Cake-any cake with coconut in the batter
10. German Chocolate
11. Any cake with vegetables added to the batter (ex.
Sauerkraut, Carrots, Pinto Beans, Etc.)
12. Any cake from a mix
13. 6 Cupcakes on a plate, homemade
14. Decorated or special occasion
